Extraordinary Egypt with Abu Simbel

With sand-covered tombs, austere pyramids and towering Pharaonic temples, Egypt brings out the explorer in all of us. Visit the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, where Tutankhamun’s tomb was unearthed, and see the glittering finds in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Hop off a Nile boat to visit Dendara, Edfu or one of the other waterside temples, cross Lake Nasser to see Ramses II’s masterpiece at Abu Simbel, or trek into the desert to find the traces of Roman trading outposts. You never know – your donkey might stumble across yet another find, for that is the way many previous discoveries were made.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival to Cairo

Welcomed by driver at arrival lobby after immigration and custom formalities, after which you will be escorted to the hotel by a private car

Overnight: Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa

Day 2Cairo Sightseeing Tour

Greeted by your driver after breakfast, start you day by visiting the Egyptian Museum of antiques where it is home to a rare collection of 5000 years of art the largest most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Including an exhibit dedicated to the Tutankhamen collection of treasures, gold, and jewellery. After which, we will visit the Great Pyramids – Cheops, Chephren & Mykerions & Sphinx. Lunch and dinner will be at your own expense.

After the tour, private transfer back to hotel in Cairo.

Day 3Transfer to Aswan

Met by driver at hotel lobby, private transfer to Cairo airport to take a flight to Aswan. Upon arrival at Aswan, private transfer to hotel from airport. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in.

Day 4Aswan Sightseeing Tour - Cruise

Greeted by your driver at the hotel lobby, start the day with a visit to the Temple of Abu Simbel and the colossal Temple of Abu Simbel built by Ramses II (XIXth. Dynasty) which was lately saved from inundation of the Nile waters in among the glories of ancient Egyptian monuments. The temples were built out of a sandstone rock cliff, and representation of the deities to which each was dedicated is carved on its huge façade. Nearby, also saved, lies the small Temple of the King’s wife Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor. After which, we will head back to Aswan to visit the High Dam and the Philae Temple.

Transfer to Cruise, upon arriving check into cruise. Lunch will be on board while on sail to Kom Ombo. After lunch, visit the Temple shared by the two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. After which, we will continue sailing to Edfu where you will spend your night there. Dinner will be on board the cruise.

Day 5Cruise

After having breakfast on board, visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. After which, the cruise will set sail for Luxor where you will have dinner on board together with an enjoyable Galabya party.

Day 6Cruise

After having breakfast on board, Cross to the West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. After which we will then continue to visit the Necropolis of Thebes with a drive to the Valley of Kings.

After the tour, we will board the cruise once again and the night will be spent in Luxor.

Day 7Cruise - Flight to Cairo

After having breakfast on board, proceed for disembarkation

Optional: Hot Air Balloon Experience.
Should you want to make your stay in Luxor an unforgettable on you will be drifting peacefully over the Valley of King, Valley of the Queens and the Mountain on the Nobles. The experience is approximately 30 minutes depending on weather.

We will then proceed to the East Bank to visit the Karnak and Luxor Temple. Following that will be a transfer to Luxor Airport to take a flight back to Cairo.

Upon Arrival in Cario, private transfer to hotel. Upon arrival at hotel, check in.

Day 8Transfer to Alexandria - Alexandria Tour

Greeted by your driver at the hotel lobby, start the day visiting the library of Alexandria; the biggest library in the world – now with 8 million books. Visit its open court where you can see the statue of Alexander the Great and the statue of Ptolemy the first, which was found underwater nearby.

The car will then take you to visit the church of St. Mark – the oldest church in Africa, after which you will visit the old downtown of Alexandria where you can walk through the old city-center of Alexandria. Look at the traditional markets; where everything and anything is sold including traditional Egyptian sweets and treats.

After lunch, continue your tour by passing through the oldest market area in Mansheya and see the traditional womens’ markets (zan’et etsetat) with very thin and narrow streets. Gold market also exists here where everyone buys their wedding and engagement jewellery. The car will then take you to visit the prettiest and biggest mosque in the city: the Abbas Elabbas Mosque, and the strangest sight outside it: an old funfair where children play on very antique funfair rides and eat candy floss.

Day 9Transfer to Cairo - Free and Easy

After breakfast, transfer back to Cairo by a private car (approx. 1hr Drive). Upon arrival at Cairo, transfer to hotel and check in. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore the city.

Optional:
Visit the Step Pyramids of Zoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure. It was built in the 3rd Dynasty (around 2630 BC) for King Djoser. After that transfer to Memphis which was founded by King Menes, and was the capital of Old Egypt during the Old Kingdom, it was considered to be a centre of rule and culture for over 3000 years the first capital of Egypt, and see the Statue of Ramses II. On your way to the south you will visit the Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid at Dahshur.
