If you’re ready to explore Zimbabwe and Cape Town in 10 days but can’t find a travel buddy, just come along with Luxexplorer. Our small group-trips are solo traveller-friendly, letting you skip the search for the best routes or accommodations and focus on what really matters: having the time of your life.
With Southern Africa travel it can be challenging to define a single icon. There are so many. Perhaps the drama of nature, like Table Mountain standing majestic over Cape Town or Victoria Falls tumbling out of the wilderness? Maybe old culture, like tasting with the winemaker at a 17th-century vineyard, or wandering past zebra with barefooted San bushmen? Safari can effortlessly take centerstage, but there are so many angles, from classic game drives with the big cats to canoeing past elephant herds.
WHY TRAVEL SOLO WITH US?
Don’t pay more
We believe that travelling by yourself shouldn’t be more expensive. We treat single travellers the same as the rest of the group, which is why we don’t charge single supplements. We’ll partner you up with a same-sex roommate to ensure you pay the same as everyone else.
Share the experience
Regardless of your age or how much ink you’ve booked in your passport, you’ll be more than welcome if you’re rolling solo. In fact, you’ll be in good company, with about half your group travelling solo, too. Our trips attract people from all over the world who are looking to get up close and personal with our planet
Solo travel that is female-friendly
Our small group tours are perfect for helping solo female travellers feel safe anywhere in the world we visit. If you have any questions, our CEOs are ready with tips on how to respect cultural traditions or local dress. Use free time to explore your way, or maybe someone from the group (or your same-sex roommate) will want to tag along.

After breakfast, check out and transfer to the Elephant Express for a special ride to the safari camp. The Elephant Express offers one of the more unique ways to experience Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. Since it came to fruition in late 2014, this dual-engine single tram has been taking guests back and forth on the iconic rail line that runs from Pretoria to Victoria Falls. The track between Ngamo and Impofu is on the straightaway that marks Hwange’s border on its eastern boundary. The purpose of the Elephant Express is to provide a fun alternative to a regular road transfer between camps in Hwange.
Arrive at the safari and settle in for the day. Experience an authentic safari living in a safari tent with the luxury of hot bath shower and toilets. The camp is unfenced and this offers a real safari feel because you never know when the elephant or wild animals is going to pass your tent.

The game drives in this remote portion of Hwange National Park seldom see another vehicle and are a spectacular insight into the wildlife and environment unique to this part of the park.
Bringing together local rural communities and our safari guests, for their mutual benefit. Twenty minutes’ drive from the lodge our guests have the opportunity to enjoy an actual and un-orchestrated look at village life in rural Matabeleland. Hosted by one of Imvelo’s local guides, it is a fascinating tour of a variety of typical daily village activities. It is followed by a visit to one of the nearby schools, hosted by the Headmaster, where guests are given the opportunity to hear traditional songs sung by the children and enjoy a ‘class interaction’.
This great opportunity is encouraged by our teachers as it is a wonderful way for the school kids to meet people from all over the world and learn about different cultures and countries. For both the children and our guests it is always a heart-warming and inspirational morning.
*Donation for the schools is welcome. Please check with us for further information

Early Morning Half Day Hiking Table Mountain
Towering 1086 meters over Cape Town, and around 500 million years in the making, Table Mountain is a playground for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Once an island, now boasting more plant species per square kilometre than the Amazon jungle, this flat-topped monolith begs exploration. Trails run the length and breadth of the mountain, offering exceptional hiking for all levels of experience and fitness. Whether you’re looking for adventure or solitude, nature or views, a hike up Table Mountain is not to be missed.
There is no shortage of routes up Table Mountain – more than a thousand if you include climbing routes. These can be mixed and matched into innumerable variations to provide a lifetime of hiking and climbing. Routes are graded A, B or C. Grades do not reflect how strenuous or exposed to heights a route is, only the technical difficulty. An A-route involves walking only, a B-route some scrambling and a C-route more demanding scrambling, often necessitating rope work. Some examples below:
Platteklip Gorge, Grade A
Time: 2.5 to 3 hours
The oldest, easiest and most direct route to the summit and therefore also the most popular, so expect company along the way. Follows a well-constructed trail up a deep ravine on the iconic front face of the mountain, featuring imposing cliffs in its upper reaches. Tops out near the upper cable station. Extension: from the ravine head, traverse the length of the famous table top summit to the highest point on the mountain for more great views
Skeleton Gorge To Table Mountain Summit, Grade: A+
Time: 3.5 hours to Maclear’s Beacon (add 45 minutes to upper cable station)
A Table Mountain classic. Follows a lush ravine through indigenous jungle before emerging onto shrub-covered slopes to eventually gain the highest point on the mountain. A short detour en route leads to a ‘beach’ at the historic Table Mountain reservoirs. Takes in all floral zones and covers the length of the famous tabletop summit. Jungle setting with Peninsula and inland views on the ascent.
Half Day Table Mountain Tour
With our guide, transfer to the cable car station and travel by cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Enjoy the crisp air and clear visibility as you reach the summit (weather permitting and cable car for own account). Our guide will point out the highlights of one of the world’s most famous views.
