Finland Winter Tour with Icebreaker

Upon arrival to Helsinki Airport, private transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a half-day tour with your private guide. Experience the lively culture, interesting architecture and excellent museums of Finland’s dynamic waterfront capital. Visit Temppeliaukio, the famed “Rock Church” hewn from solid stone. Tour outdoor markets, indoor food halls, historic squares and the Kamppi Chapel of Silence, and see landmark buildings such as Finlandia Hall, the Railway Station and the Olympic Stadium.

Optional: Explore the city of Helsinki on foot on a walking tour.

This day is at your own leisure in Helsinki, before departing in the evening with an overnight train to Kemi. Sights of interest in Helsinki include the historical centre, Senate Square, the Parliament building, the Kiasma modern arts museum, Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church) and more

Morning arrival to Kemi. At around 12:00 hrs you will be picked up at the hotel to start the adventure day with the Sampo Ice Breaker. You will have a once in a lifetime experience as you sail on the frozen ice. You can join a guided tour on board the Ice Breaker to see the facilities, from the engine room all the way up to the captain’s bridge. A buffet lunch will be served. During the cruise you will also have the chance to try swimming in the freezing cold waters (minimum height 1,45m), dressed in warm impermeable survival suits of course. In the early evening, you will return to Kemi.

After dinner, experience the Arctic night by driving through the snow-covered forest and on the frozen sea. With a little luck, you’ll travel under a bright sky lit by the moon and the stars. Perhaps the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights – will appear to show you the way. You will sip warm beverages by a campfire and learn more about the Northern Lights and Lapland.

Breakfast at the hotel , you will embark on a 2 countries snowmobile adventure. ( 2 hours) On this safari, you will steer your snowmobile towards the frozen sea which unites Finland and Sweden. Admire the islands while you are driving away over the vast ice fields. Toast warm juice to crossing the border of Sweden and Finland. With some luck, you may also see some arctic animals such as seals lying on the ice.
In the afternoon you will take a train to Rovaniemi. During the train ride to Rovaniemi, which will take just over an hour, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery passing along.

We recommend a visit to the Santa Claus Village where you can meet Santa Claus, visit his post office and really get into the Christmas mood! For those who want a more active day, choose one of the many winter activities like snowmobile or dog sledding safaris, or you can combine a reindeer sledding tour with a visit to the Santa Claus Village. Another place worth visiting during your time in Rovaniemi is the northernmost zoo in the world, the Ranua Zoo. You can get there by bus from Rovaniemi and the transfer takes approximately 1 hour each way. Accommodation in Rovaniemi.

Optional: During Christmas season, families with children can opt for a private 1-hour private meeting with Santas Claus. Including 2 ways transfers
